Wedding Photography in Vienna
Your Love Story Meets Vienna’s Ridiculously Beautiful Backdrop
Honestly? There’s something almost unfairly magical about getting married in this city. I mean, where else can you have your first dance with Schönbrunn Palace literally glowing in the background? Or exchange vows while baroque angels basically smile down at you from every corner?
I’ve been photographing weddings here for… God, has it really been eight years already? And I still get goosebumps when I see a couple having their moment against Vienna’s stunning architecture. Every single wedding feels like I’m documenting something out of a fairytale, except it’s real and happening right in front of me.
The crazy thing is, no two Vienna weddings are even remotely the same. Last month I shot an intimate ceremony at Stadtpalais Liechtenstein where the bride’s grandmother cried through the entire thing (in the best way), and the week before that was this absolutely epic celebration at Schönbrunn where the groom’s Turkish family taught everyone traditional dances at 1 AM. Same city, completely different stories.
Why Couples Keep Trusting Me with Their Biggest Day
I Know This City Like the Back of My Hand
After shooting weddings at pretty much every major venue in Vienna, I’ve figured out all the little secrets. Like, there’s this one spot at Belvedere where the afternoon light hits just right at exactly 4:15 PM (not 4 PM, not 4:30 PM). And I know which garden path at Schönbrunn the tour groups never take, so we can get those perfect quiet moments even during peak tourist season.
I’m Like a Wedding Ninja
Your day is about you two falling even more in love, not about me orchestrating some elaborate photo shoot. I’ve gotten pretty good at being everywhere I need to be without anyone even noticing. Some of my favorite shots happen when people forget I’m there completely—like when the best man tears up during the speech, or when someone’s kid decides to make a dramatic entrance during the ceremony (which happens way more than you’d think).
We’re Going to Actually Enjoy Working Together
Look, planning a wedding is stressful enough without worrying about whether your photographer is going to be weird or demanding. I promise I’m not. Plus, I speak German, English, and Turkish fluently, which comes in handy surprisingly often—especially when Austrian grandparents want to tell me exactly how they want their family portrait arranged (and they’re usually right, by the way).
This is Actually My Home
My studio is right here in Vienna, which means we can meet up for coffee to plan everything properly. More importantly, this isn’t just some destination I fly to for work—I genuinely love this city and the people who choose to start their marriages here. There’s something special about that.
About My Work (And Why I Still Love This Job)
I’ve been incredibly lucky to photograph weddings at some absolutely spectacular venues around the city. Traditional Austrian ceremonies at St. Stephen’s Cathedral where the acoustics make your vows echo in the most beautiful way. Modern celebrations with panoramic Danube views where the city lights create this incredible backdrop as the sun sets.
My style? I guess I’d call it “storytelling with really good lighting.” I want to capture all the real stuff—the nervous laughter before you walk down the aisle, the way your partner looks at you during your vows, your dad trying not to cry during his speech (spoiler alert: he probably will anyway).

Let’s Talk About Your Wedding
The prime wedding dates fill up pretty fast around here—especially that crazy busy stretch from May through September when everyone wants to get married (and honestly, I get it). But I always try to leave some room in my schedule for couples I really connect with during our first meeting.
If you’re planning a Vienna wedding and want a photographer who genuinely cares about your specific story (not just getting those Pinterest-perfect shots everyone’s seen a million times), let’s grab coffee and chat. I want to hear all about your plans, your families, what you’re excited about, what you’re maybe a little nervous about. The whole thing.
Questions Couples Ask Me All the Time
Which venues are actually the best for photos?
Honestly, every venue in Vienna has something special about it. Yes, Schönbrunn and Belvedere are absolutely gorgeous, but they can get pretty crazy with tourists, especially in summer. I've shot some of my favorite weddings at smaller places like Stadtpalais Liechtenstein or Palais Coburg where we have way more creative freedom. But here's the thing—the best venue is always the one that feels right for you as a couple. I've made gas stations look romantic if that's where your story happened to unfold (okay, that was an engagement shoot, but still).
How many hours do we actually need you there?
Most couples book me for 8-10 hours, which covers everything from getting ready (my favorite part—everyone's so excited and nervous) through the first few dances. If you're doing one of those amazing long Austrian celebrations that goes until 3 AM with multiple courses and everyone's parents showing off their best dance moves, then 12 hours makes sense. For smaller, intimate ceremonies, 6 hours is usually perfect.
Should we do engagement photos first?
I always recommend it! Not just because engagement photos are great for save-the-dates, but because it gives us a chance to get comfortable with each other before your wedding day. Plus, Vienna has some incredible spots for engagement sessions—I know places tourists never find that are absolutely perfect for photos. And honestly, it's nice to have some relaxed photos where you're not thinking about a million other wedding details.
What if it rains on our wedding day?
Vienna weather is... let's call it 'unpredictable.' But I've shot weddings in every type of weather you can imagine, and some of my absolute favorite photos were taken in the rain. There's something genuinely romantic about it, plus most venues have beautiful indoor spaces. I always bring umbrellas just in case, and honestly, couples who embrace a little rain usually end up with the most fun, memorable photos.
Do we need permits for photos around the city?
For most public spots, nope, no permits needed. But places like Schönbrunn or Belvedere require permits for professional photography. Don't worry about it though—I handle all that paperwork stuff. It's boring administrative work that I've done hundreds of times, so you don't have to think about it at all.
